Tucked in the vibrant neighborhood of Tribeca, Casa Carmen offers a delightful escape into authentic Latin American cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the perfect tone for a memorable culinary journey.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in several incredible dishes that truly showcase the restaurant’s commitment to rich, coastal flavors. The “Tostadas de atún” were a standout — featuring fresh tuna complemented by soy, chipotle alioli, creamy avocado, sesame seeds, and tender leeks. Each bite was a harmonious blend of smoky, savory, and fresh notes that left me craving more.
Another highlight was the “Empanadas de Jaiba”, which arrived flaky and golden, bursting with coastal crab flavor. Their richness and crispness perfectly balanced the seafood’s sweetness, making them an irresistible starter.
To add a bit of zing and texture, I ordered the “Guacamole”, crafted with ripe avocados, fiery jalapeño, fresh cilantro, and crunchy cacalas (corn nuts). For an extra layer of flavor, chicharrón was added, providing a satisfying crunch and savory depth.

For the main course, I enjoyed the “Pulpo al mojo de ajo”. Tender octopus was drizzled with fragrant garlic oil infused with jalapeño and epazote herbs, served alongside traditional Mexican staples—fluffy rice, refried beans, and warm tortillas. The dish was a perfect balance of bold flavors and tender textures.

To conclude on a sweet note, I savored the “Pastel de Chocolate y Espresso Abuelita”. This comforting dessert was rich and indulgent, featuring velvety chocolate paired with the deep flavor of espresso, reminiscent of classic Mexican chocolate treats.
Casa Carmen in Tribeca masterfully combines authenticity with contemporary flair, making it a must-visit for lovers of coastal Latin American cuisine. Whether you’re seeking vibrant starters or soulful desserts, this restaurant promises a flavorful experience worth savoring.
